Essential public health operations in Slovenia: key findings and recommendations on strengthening public health capacities and services

Overview

Between 2017 and 2019, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia, in collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Europe, initiated a self-assessment of the essential public health operations in Slovenia.

The aim of the assessment was to support the strengthening and modernization of the public health capacities and services in the country, in line with the European Action Plan for Strengthening Public Health Capacities and Services (‎2012–2020)‎.

The process, which involved the participation of over 130 professionals, resulted in 49 recommendations, which will serve as a basis for the preparation of a strategy for the development of public health services in Slovenia.
